ABOUT me

i’m a PASSIONATE PERSON

Anyone who knows me on any personal level at all, would tell you I’m driven and passionate…about a lot of things. I’ve always known what I wanted in life and went for it full force. From the moment I learned about plant-based eating, to realizing I wanted to grow my own food and raise babies barefoot in Hawaii - once something clicks for me, I’M ALL IN.

But don’t confuse me for a person full of spontaneity or doing things on a whim. While those can be admirable qualities, I’m more the person with a healthy dose of skepticism (I need proof before I really believe in something) and a planner who takes time with my dreams.

I am deeply passionate about a woman’s right to true informed consent, ensuring bodily autonomy in the birthing process. I created a birth course called The Empowered Pregnancy & Birth to support women in reclaiming their power in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

I enjoy sunshine, warm water, and meaningful conversations. Surface level chatter bores me to death. Get me in a room with someone who enjoys a friendly debate with opposing views, and I’m energized and loving life. Hence the reason I started a podcast, watch it HERE on The Ellen Fisher Podcast.

I’M ALSO A MOTHER to 5 wonderful, healthy, beautiful, children.

They’re growing so fast, I want to savor every moment of their youth! I ate a whole foods plant-based dietary pattern for all my highly nourished and wonderfully healthy pregnancies.

All of my children were born in the comfort and safety of my own home,

I’m so thankful for each of my birthing experiences, transforming me in their own unique way. Birth is one of the most sacred and important events in a mother’s life. It can turn you inside out and flip you upside down in the most beautiful way! BIRTH IS WILD & POWERFUL. birth is magic!

This course was was collaborated with my sister (who also happens to be my best friend!) and experts including an OBGYN, DONA certified Doula, yoga instructor, and Mind Change Specialist.

THIS IS US AT 15 YEARS OLD!

WE DATED FOR 6 YEARS THEN MARRIED IN 2009

i married my HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEART.

Andrew and I went to junior high and high school together. We started dating when we were 15 and 16 years old - when the clock struck midnight on a New Years eve party he asked me to be his girlfriend. We’ve been inseparable ever since.

WE WOULD HAVE NEVER GUESSED THAT ONE DAY we would be vegans who give birth at home, RAISING 5 CHILDREN IN HAWAII and growing our own food.

IF SOMEONE SHARED WITH US OUR FUTURE BACK WHEN WE FIRST START DATING, WE WOULD HAVE LAUGHED IN THEIR FACE AND SAID, “what’s a vegan?”

I’VE BEEN VEGAN for over 16 years.

It started out as a plant-based dietary pattern for my health, but overtime my heart opened to the many reasons for being vegan. I watched The Best Speech You’ll Ever Hear by Gary Yourofsky on YouTube and bawled my eyes out. I couldn’t believe I hadn’t cared about the animals and what they go through to end up on our plates.

My plant-based diet has become a lifestyle with a COMPASSION FOR THE ANIMALS and a care for the ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT of our daily choices.

I’m so thankful to have found this lifestyle and for my thriving health and vitality. My family’s focus is on whole plant foods in abundance and we are thankful for all the nutritionists, dietitians, and physicians educating the masses on the benefits of a healthful plant-based dietary pattern.

WE HAVE BIG GOALS with growing our own food.

We have goals to become as sustainable as we can, growing our own food in abundance. Andrew has planted many fruit trees on our little 3/4 acre piece of land and we tend to our vegetable garden as a part of our weekly routine with our family.

It can be hard to find the time to spend as much time in the garden as we dream of, but slow and steady we have made so much progress! Expanding vegetable gardens and big fruit tree harvest are in our future.

HOME EDUCATION is also a foundation in our lives.

Yet another thing I’ve got a lot of passion for! This little page isn’t the place for going deep into this topic, but you can check out an incredible podcast conversation I had with Matt Beaudreau on Problems with our School System (and why the school system is failing out youth) HERE.

All of our children are home educated and thriving. A couple resources that inspired us along this journey are the books “How Children Learn” by John holt and “Dumbing us Down” by John Taylor Gatto.

You can watch all about OUR HOMESCHOOLING ROUTINE and how we keep the magic alive in learning in my YouTube video HERE.

We can best help children learn, not by deciding what we think they should learn and thinking of ingenious ways to teach it to them, but by making the world, as far as we can, accessible to them, paying serious attention to what they do, answering their questions -- if they have any -- and helping them explore the things they are most interested in.”
